Majority Of Kenyans Believe Kenya Is Headed In Wrong Direction-Infotrak

The Infotrak report released on Thursday shows that a majority of Kenyans think the country is headed in the wrong direction due to the high cost of living.

The poll shows that 45 per cent of Kenyans blame the track on the cost of living, a 44 per cent difference from data released in September 2023.

Twenty-seven per cent believe the country is on the wrong track due to the taxes imposed on people while seven per cent is on poor governance.

Six per cent of Kenyans fault the directionality of unemployment with three per cent on poverty.

The survey was conducted between May 23 to 29 among 1,700 respondents aged above 18 years whereby the margin error is +/-2.53 per cent at 95 per cent degree of confidence.

The poll was conducted through Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) in all 47 counties and eight regions of Kenya.

Two per cent of Kenyans blame the country’s wrong directionality on bad politics, rampant corruption and poor infrastructure.

Other factors stated include unequal distribution of resources and jobs, increased insecurity or crime, poor quality education, wrong societal values and unresolved land/squatter issues.

The data shows that only one per cent of Kenyans listed the above.

Sixty-three per cent of Kenyans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction.

The other regions include North Eastern (22 per cent), Coast and Western regions (21 per cent), Central (20 per cent), Eastern (17 per cent) and Nyanza with 16 per cent.
