A 28-year-old man Denis Nyaega has been burnt to death for stealing 50 kilograms of meat fromBobaracho market in Kisii Central.
Nyaega is alleged to have stolen the meat on Friday night from one of the butcheries in the area.
The deceased;s wife is alleged to have leaked the information to some villagers on Sunday.
Nyaegas younger brother, Andrew Bogita said three people riding different motorbikes attacked his elder brother before several others joined them in the lynching.
“He was burnt beyond recognition. My brother has never been accused of theft. They could have given him a chance to explain how he got the portion of meat that he was found in his possession”
The assailants bought five litres of kerosine that they poured on his body before they set him ablaze.They also destroyed his one-bedroom house.The deceaseds wife ran away leaving behind a young child aged four.
Kisii County Commander Jebel Munene warned locals against taking the law into their hands.
“We are investigating the matter and those who involved in the matter will have to be questioned”
