Kenya has been suspended from all the international football activities.
This comes after daring the world football governing body FIFA the moment many football fans feared has come.
FIFA boss Gianni Infantino said Kenya together with Zimbabwe have been suspended from international football due to government interference.
This suspension came with a condition that for Kenya to be welcomed back to the FIFA family, the suspended Football Kenya Federation (FKF) needs to be reinstated and the caretakers committee forthwith.
This is not the first time Kenya is being suspended by FIFA.
In June 2004, FIFA suspended Kenya for three months due to government interference. Though in November last year, FIFA’s Chief Member Associations Officer in Kenya, Jean Marie threatened to suspend Kenya from football related activities after sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed suspended football Kenya federation and installed the caretaker committee and secretariat to solve the football matters for six months.
This suspension makes Kenya not to be represented in any regional, continental or international competitions but can only compete locally nor is it eligible in any international friendly match.
The Kenya premier league is expected to resume today after two weeks break all the matches will amount to friendly matches as long as the suspension is effective.
Infantino also added “Kenya football federation know what is to be done to be reinstated or for the suspension to be lifted.”
The caretaker committee is chaired by Retired Justice Aoron Ringera.
