Nyamira County Assembly has put on hold the employment of new staff until the county’s wage bill is contained.
Part of a letter dated 1st July 2021 written by the County Assembly to Ann Mwasi CEO County Public Service Board read,
“The county assembly through the adopted committee report froze all new employment until the county government puts in place the necessary measures to curb the ballooning wage bill and have it under control within the legally allowed threshold”.
The letter also states that the Nyamira wage bill had passed 35 per cent and in the 2021-22 counties wage bill was at 53 per cent which is above the legal threshold.
County Public Service Board CEO Ann Mwasi confirmed receipt of the letter.
“I have copied the same to the governor and the county secretary and I have not signed any appointment letters.”
