According to projections, the Kisii County Assembly will receive a total of Shs 937 million for recurrent expenditure while Shs 117 will be allocated for the assembly’s development expenditure.
Part of the Shs 117 million will be used to renovate the Assembly Chambers that was razed in September 2020.
To date, police have never made the inquiry report into the inferno that completely razed down the Chambers.
Kisii County Governor while signing the Finance Bill 2021/21 urged the Assembly leadership to begin the tendering process towards the Assembly’s renovations.
To fund the budget, themed ‘Budget for Economic Recovery and Resilience,’ the County Government will receive a total of Shs 8.9 billion as equitable share, Sh 700 million from Own Source Revenue, Sh 575 million as conditional loans and grants from development partners, and Sh.153 million as conditional allocation from the national government.
Health Services and Roads and Public Works departments got a lion share of Sh 4.7 billion and Shs 1.2 billion respectively.
Cunty assembly 1.05 billion, Education and manpower development Shs 766 million, Administration and Stakeholder management Shs 600 million, Lands and Physical Planning Sh 308 million, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative Development Shs 1.1 million, Water Environment and Natural Resources Sh 328 million, among other departmental allocations.
Spending priorities as identified by the Fiscal Paper 2021 are increased Health services efficiency and effectiveness, Roads Development, Water Reticulation and Environmental conservation, Food production, Roads and urban infrastructure development and Skills and Sports Development.
The Executive will remain focused on sustaining these Shs 12.5 billion budgets for the sake of public service delivery.
