A 13-year-old girl from Mutonga Village, Nyeri County, who went missing three weeks ago, has been found murdered.
Margaret Waithira, a Form One student at Ngwamwa Secondary School, was found in a gunny bag, dumped in a river about a kilometer from her home.
According to the deceased’s uncle Maina Kigio, their efforts to trace the minor after her disappearance bore no fruits.
Three weeks later, on Monday evening, a gunny bag was discovered in a river near the girl’s home.
Police were immediately alerted about the incident.
Upon emptying the bag, they found the remains of Waithira.
The family has now demanded that justice prevails.
The area MCA Mary Wamuyu joined the call for justice, adding that this is not the first incident in the area.
“This indicates that there is not enough security in Gikondi, I am asking now the national government to put security in place.”
Meanwhile, the police have identified some leads as further probing continues.
