President William Ruto has today presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Talanta Sports stadium.
He said the government is investing in sports and talent development so that our youth can monetise their skills and expertise.
Taking to his X account today, the Head of State said the ongoing upgrading of such facilities will turn Kenya into a global sports powerhouse and make the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations a memorable event.
The event took place at the Jamhuri grounds along Ngong Road on Friday morning.
The 60,000-capacity stadium is one of the host venues earmarked for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The construction of the project was approved by the Cabinet in October 2023 as part of Kenya’s commitment to hosting the 38th edition of the continental tournament.
The stadium, according to the president, will be completed in December 2025 and  will be equipped with a standard athletics track, a standard football field and a shared rugby field.
The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has been tasked with overseeing the construction of the project.
