Sadio Mane wins CAF Men’s Player of the Year award

Sadio Mane has been named CAF Footballer of the Year, beating fellow Teranga Lions teammate, Edouard Mendy and former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah to the award.

The Senegal forward was named the continent’s player of the year at the Confederation of African Football Awards ceremony in Rabat on Thursday night. It is the second time Mane has won the award.

The awards returned for the first time in three years after being suspended by the coronavirus pandemic, with Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala also retaining the title she won in 2019.

The 30-year-old was named Player of the Tournament after Senegal’s win and subsequently helped his country qualify for the World Cup.
