Three people died on Wednesday night, after a 14-seater matatu headed to Kisii from Nairobi collided head-on with a lorry at Kipturgut, Mulot in Narok County.
The 14-seater matatu involved in the crash belongs to Galaxy Sacco.
According to police, three passengers, two men and a woman, died on the spot, and eight other passengers sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Longisa County Referral Hospital.
According to witnesses, the matatu driver tried to avoid hitting a motorcycle driver and that’s when he collided with an oncoming lorry and rolled into a ditch.
The lorry’s driver escaped with soft tissue injuries to his right leg and his passenger escaped with no injuries.
the motorcycle driver is said to have fled the scene.
Bodies of the victims were taken to the Longisa County Referral Hospital morgue.
The wreckage of the matatu and the slightly damaged lorry were towed to Ololulunga Police Station pending inspection.
