Sonko transferred to Kamiti Maximum GK Prison

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi  Sonko was transferred to Kamiti Maximum GK Prison and is set to appear in Kiambu court tomorrow.

His lawyer Assa Nyakundi said he was headed to Kamiti and was informed Sonko is to face additional charges related to terrorism.

“There is a huge traffic jam but I am told he is already at Kamiti waiting for a possible arrangement. We are informed police have sworn an affidavit seeking to hold him for 30 days over terrorism-related charges,” said Nyakundi.

Sonko was driven from the Milimani law courts where he was facing corruption charges.

The former Nairobi Governor is suspected to have been transferred to Kamiti Maximum GK Prison where he will be spending his night.

While in Milimani law courts Mike Sonko was guarded by officers from the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit.

Former Governor Sonko has been accused of recruiting a militia which is likely to destabilize security.
