The Nairobi City Water and Sewarage Company has released a public notice announcing a disruption in water supply to a large portion of Nairobi for the next twenty four hours from Friday 15 December 14, 2023 at 7 a.m. to Saturday 16 December at 7 a.m.
The public notice, dated Thursday 14th, stated that the emergency shutdown of the Sasumua-Kabete pipeline is to facilitate repairs of major leaks along the pipeline.
“The aim of the shutdown is to facilitate repairs of major leaks along the pipeline which if not contained will lead to major landslides resulting to more damage to the pipeline,” read the notice.
According to the notice, Waiyaki Way road, James Gichuru Road, Dennis Pritt Road, Ngong Road, Langata Road, Peponi Road, Kikuyu Road, Naivasha Road, Mgagathi and Riverside Drive are some of the areas to be affected by the shutdown.
Other areas include Lavington, Kilimani, Westlands, Parklands, Loresho, Kangemi, Uthiru, Karen, Kawangware and Ritura.
Areas in Lang’ata, Kaibera, Dam Estate, Kileleshwa, Nyayo Highrise Kibera, Ngumo, Woodley Estates will also be affected.
Residents in affected areas have been advised to beware of the issue and use the available water sparingly during that period.
