A four-year-old boy died on Wednesday after falling inside an open pit latrine.
According to his father, John Nyakundi from Isoge Sub-Location of Ensakia Location his son Josephat Macheo had gone out to play with a group of other children.
About an hour later. He heard a child cry for help where he and his wife Sharon Mongina rushed out and found that their son had fallen inside the said pit latrine.
They called for neighbours who helped them retrieve the child from the open pit latrine where he was found dead.
Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba Confirmed the incident and said police officers from Riontonyi Police station visited the scene and the police took necessary action.
The body has since been transferred to Nyansiongo Hospital Mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
