Chiefs from Nyamira County through an initiative called the National Chief Forum have come together to put strategies to reduce defilement and suicidal cases that have increased in the recent days.
Speaking during the function, the chiefs vowed not to relent on the war on defilement and rape, at the same time to lead on sensitisation on the subject.
The Principal Chief Jane Mara who chaired the meeting added that domestic violence, gender-based violence, mental and suicide counselling would help a lot in reducing the serging cases among the residents.
They also asked members of the public to stop engaging in-court settlement in matters related to rape and defilement but rather report them if and when they occur to the authorities concerned.
