Singer-turned politician Kelvin Bahati has refused to stand down from his bid to be Mathare’s next Member of Parliament, this is despite the plea from Azimio la Umoja presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga urging him to quit the Mathare parliamentary race.
Raila had offered the singer a job opportunity in his government if his party secures victory in the next General election.
During a campaign trail Raila endorsed the incumbent MP, Antony Oluoch as the Azimio representative in the Mathare race, Bahati who was present during the Rally waved his hands to the crowd indicating he was not in agreement with the Party leaders decision
Bahati then stormed out and shortly confirmed on his social media that he would still be on the ballot box as Mathare residents had made up their mind about him to be their next MP.
Bahati was expected to shelf his political ambitions in support of of Oluoch who was selected during a joint meeting of ODM and Jubilee delegates.
