The Land and Environment Court judge Kamau Mugo is set to rule on the boundary dispute between Nyamira and Kisii County.
The judgment, set to be delivered today, will clear confusion on whether Keroka town is under Nyamira or Kisii County.
Rigoma ward MCA Nyambega Gisesa presented the matter to court early 2023, seeking to know the county that should manage the town.
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the National Lands Commission (NLC) officials were in May 2023 summoned over the Keroka boundary.
The two bodies were expected to appear in court with maps, and to explain why the dispute had not been solved before the formation of county governments under the 2010 constitution.
For a couple of years now, traders in Keroka town have been subjected to double taxation, where both Nyamira and Kisii County officials have visited their businesses to collect levies.
