Traders in Kisii are counting losses after heavy rainfalls swept away their merchandise and destroyed their structures.
Several residential and business places near river banks suffered significant damages.
The rain which started falling at around 5pm on Friday evening swept clothes displayed by hawkers on the roadside and washed sand from construction sites.
Nearby shops were also flooded with cars being submerged in water.
The heavy rains also caused huge traffic snarl ups as the floods cut off some roads.
