A number of people have died,while over 200 others have been left with injuries following a today morning fire explosion that rocked a gas filling station at Mradi area in Embakasi, Nairobi.
The victims were rushed to Mbagathi, Modern Komarock, Nairobi West and Kenyatta National hospitals.
Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura said two died while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi West Hospital.
Consequently, the fire further damaged several vehicles and commercial properties, including business premises.
Residential houses in the neighborhood also caught fire, with a good number of residents still inside.
In a statement, the government has sent sincere condolences to the families of departed souls and said it is doing its level best to restore normalcy in the affected area.
Kenyans have been advised to keep off the cordoned area in order to allow the rescue mission to be carried out without disruption.
