Senegal win and public holiday

It was fun and celebrations in the streets of Dakar after the lions of Teranda beat Egypt 4-1 on post-match penalties in the completed Africa cup of nations.

This was scored by Liverpool star Sadio Mane stole the show to win the final and first ever trophy at the Paul Biya Olembe Stadium yester night.

The west Africans were dominant throughout the game from the first minute and keeping on toes goal keeper  Abou Gabal cordially known as ‘Gabanski’ who was outstanding throughout the games and considering he came was harbouring an injury.

Head coach Aliou Cisse who has been managing the club for the last eight years with no winning the trophy, says, “I am an African champion. It was long, difficult, complicated but we never gave up. I dedicated this victory to the Senegalese people. For years we have been chasing this cup. Today we will be able to put a star on our jersey.”

After the win, the cherry on top is that the Senagal President Macky Sall declared a public Holiday to celebrate the country’s ever first win.

In his tweet, he congratulated the team saying “What a game. What a team. You did it. Beautiful moment of football. Beautiful moment of communion and national pride. Congratulations to our heroes.”
