Two brothers have been arrested in Raganga Village and are being detained at the Kisii Central Police Station following the killing of their father.
The siblings are said to have murdered their 70-year-old father last week before disposing of his body in a borehole.
According to the bereaved family, the two were driven to commit the wicked act due to inheritance matters.
Mary Moraa, the daughter of the deceased pointed out that there has been conflict between the two brothers for close to three years.
The body of Chrisantus was recovered from the borehole last week on Wednesday.
On the same day, Moraa had just left him in the house preparing to go harvest tea. Upon returning, she found the borehole wide open. However, there was a bucket and dirty laundry beside it.
“Tulimwacha kwa nyumba kama anavaa gumboots tukaenda kuchuna chai, vile tulirudi nikapata kisima iko wazi, ndoo ya maji iko hapo na nguo za kufua ziko hapo kando.”
Moraa confirmed that upon checking inside the borehole, she saw her father’s body.
She added that when the body of his father was pulled out, it had severe injuries and his hands had been cut. They later found out that he had been murdered in his elder son’s compound.
According to postmortem results, Chrisantus’s head had been hit by a harmer, his hands cut by a panga and several of his ribs were broken.
The two brothers whose plot was to share their father’s wealth and land were later arrested due to their confusing statements.
