The United States men’s national team will be without Chelsea’s playmaker Christian Pulisic for their opening World Cup qualifying match against El Salvador.
Pulisic announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19 on August 18, saying that he was fully vaccinated and had no symptoms.
After isolating for at least ten days in London, he cleared coronavirus protocols and participated in the USA men’s team training sessions.
Head coach Gregg Berhalter confirmed the decision to leave the player behind, though he didn’t get into any specific reasons as to why.
But evidently, he seemed not to be fit enough to play yet.
