A 23-year-old mother; Sellah Nyanchera has given birth to Quintuplets at Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital.
The mother arrived Thursday and a scan was done revealing the mother was carrying four children.
However, on delivery at the hospital’s theatre, the mother gave birth to five infants; four females and one male weighing between 1.5 and 1.1 kilograms.
The Hospital’s Head of Clinical Services Dr Bina Ongaki says both the infants and the mother are in a stable condition. “We have put both of them under observation and monitoring at the New Born Unit.”
The children’s father Dauglous Nyaoko called for support. “I didn’t expect five children at once. I am a casual with a little income.”
The mother has already received support from Kisii County Governor James Ongwae and County Woman Representative Janet Ongera.
